Aside from directly learning about veterinary medicine in school, part of my preparation for becoming a veterinary practitioner is to equip myself with some strong, reliable resources. My goal is to build a nice, strong support system of textbooks, journals, software, websites, colleagues and even android apps.
I have come to know and love several of these digital resources, and perhaps others might find this assortment of tools helpful in their veterinary future.

VETFOLIO
A relatively new online resource for veterinary professionals, and the result of a joint partnership between AAHA and NAVC. A database of information including market insight, practice team development, new graduate resources, surgical videos, conference proceedings, articles from peer-reviewed journals, community forums, CE and so on…this really is a robust resource for practicing veterinarians and vet students.
Annual paid membership is required, but thanks to generous sponsors, vet students and new graduates get a 2-year subscription for FREE. Sign-up and status confirmation are done through Vetfolio’s webite.

Plumb’s Veterinary Drugs Online
An online format of the Plumb’s Veterinary Drugs Manual that we all know ana +/- love. Given the nature of the Plumb’s book, whipping out (let alone carrying it with me) the book is not always convenient. I appreciate the user-friendly, optimized interface and I am impressed with the content layout. Fast, quick, simple…and updated! Yes, continual drug updates and new drug alerts.
Brief Media offers two valuable clinical journals called Clinician’s Brief and Veterinary TeamBrief..and their newest edition,Plumb’s Therapeutics Brief.
Vetstream
Another online veterinary resource, specifically as a clinical reference. Membership is pricey, but, in coordination with getting the free
2-year subscription with Vetfolio (discussed above), you also get a free annual subscription to Vetstream. Interestingly, Vetstream divides its content and subscriptions based on species. These four are canis, felis, equis and lapis. You can get the free subscription to whichever two you pick. I chose Equis and canis
Abundance fo photos with great updated information on clinically relevant topics. Vetstream’s peer-reviewed digital Vetlexicon resource is easy to navigate and to the point. Vetstream’s approach is not textbook-style, or in other words paragraph-rich. Instead, the content is presented in a more note-like, bulleted style.
